On Friday, July 21, the Okinawa Prefecture G8 Summit Host Preparation Council will hold a Summit Opening Festival for government delegates and journalists with participation from local Okinawan residents.
During the reception function, traditional Okinawan entertainment, under the production and direction of Mr. Yuji Nakae (Director of the motion picture "Nabbie's Love"), will be presented so that guests will have an opportunity to experience the diversity of Okinawan culture and interact with local residents as well.

Summit Opening Festival
  1. Time & Date: 5pm-10pm Friday July 21
  2. Venue: Forest of the 21st Century Park(Nago City)
  3. Details: To invite delegates from each participating country, journalists, and media representatives to the presentation of traditional Okinawan dance, Okinawan Eisa dance, and other scheduled entertainment by various performers from Okinawa and mainland Japan. International exchange between guests and local Okinawans through Kachashi dancing . (Kachashi dancing for One and All)

  5. Participation by local residents: All are welcome to participate. However, the use of private vehicles will be strictly prohibited. We encourage all participants to use transportation provided by the G8 Summit Host Preparation Council. (Details of transport arrangements will be announced soon.) Applications to attend will be necessary, and tickets will be issued to attendees in advance.
  6. Admission Entrance (on the day of the festival): Ginowan sea-filled Port Zone (Across from the Ginowan Convention Center)
  7. Hours of admission: Friday, July 21st 15:00 - 19:00
  8. How to apply in advance:
    Send a prepaid and self-addressed post card to the Summit Opening Festival Office with the following information:
    your (1) Zip Code, (2) Address, (3) Name and (4) preferable time for shuttle bus ride.
    Your post card application must arrive at the Summit Opening Festival Office on or before July 14 (Fri).
