The " Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu"
are cultural heritages characteristically unique to the district of the
Ryukyu. They were developed sometime between the end of the 14th century
when the Ryukyu Kingdom began its steps toward unification,and the end
of the 18th century when the Kingdom was finally established.
Zakimi-jo Site (Zakimi Castle Remains)
Located at Yomitan Village, Nakagami-gun.[Site]
Zakimi-jo site. Castle walls and arched gate of second enclosure.
The castle was built by the influential chieftain Gosamaru in 1420's. After
Hokuzan was overthrown the site was expanded to safeguard the ruling power.
It played an important role. It is designated as a histric site.
