Kariyushi Arts Performances
The shows of Okinawa Prefecture Kariyushi Performing Arts offer the opportunity for visitors to our prefecture, as well as Okinawans, to appreciate Ryukyuan Dance. These performances have been carried out since 1993 with the objective of promoting the use of the Prefectural Theater and contributing to the promotion of tourism while nurturing the growth of young performers.
In fiscal year 2001, 47performances were given from the period April 3, 2001- March 19, 2002. As a result, the total number of visitors to the Prefecture this year was 12,661 compared with 13,986 the last fiscal year. In looking at the numbers of visitors that came to each performance, in FY 2001 that number was 269 persons compared with 285 persons the last fiscal year. Note that in looking at trends based on questionnaires, the total number of visitors from outside the prefecture was 2,963. Continuing in 2002, 48 performances are planned between April 2, 2002 - March 8, 2003.
